Karl Handelsman

Founder of Codon Capital 

Investment Director, Roche Ventures

Karl Handelsman is an early stage Venture Capitalist who has invested in over three dozen biotech companies over the last 18 years.  Prior to that he worked at two early stage biotech companies that each were acquired for billions.


Karl has taught bio-entrepreneurship at UCSF and the NIH, works as an advisor to multiple incubators and translational programs to move science from lab bench to patient.  He invested in therapeutic companies that invented preclinical assets so valuable those companies were acquired and exited in under 18 months from the initial capital input.


Karl is the least accomplished kite surfer in the San Francisco area, but makes kegs of the best Moscow Mule on the Playa at the Jazz Cafe.  He has won professional poker tournaments but always loses when he plays with friends. On July 2nd Karl and his friends are renting a jet out of Easter Island to chase a solar eclipse to experience totality for exactly 8 minutes and 20 seconds.

Heather Mirjahangir Fernandez

CEO, Co-Founder,  Solv Health

As Solv's CEO and co-founder, Heather brings more than a decade of executive management experience with leading consumer technology startups to the company. Her career and passion has focused on creating simple, transparent consumer experiences that dramatically change massive industries such as real estate and healthcare. She founded Solv to transform healthcare for consumers by providing mobile access to same-day, quality convenient care without hidden costs.


Prior to Solv, Heather served as senior vice president and general manager of business services at Trulia, Inc., where she led advertising product, market and sales strategy, through its acquisition by Zillow (NASDAQ: ZG) in 2015. Heather's diverse professional background spans politics, technology and financial services--including time at Morgan Stanley, the U.S. House of Representatives, and Senator John McCain’s 2000 presidential campaign.


She currently serves on the Atlassian (NASDAQ: TEAM) board of directors and is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
